Overheard at our house

okay, I always type that "hour ouse".

Anyway.

We have Netflix. The Netflix where you can instantly stream to your TV. LOVE this feature.

A few days ago, I introduced "Dora" to Brinly.

Yesterday, she had a runny nose, so I told her we needed to go wipe it.

She starts wiping her nose and says "Swiper nose! Swiper nose! Swiiiiiiiper NOSE!"

(If you aren't familiar with the show, there's a little fox who "swipes" things. To prevent him from swiping, Dora says "Swiper, NO swiping! Swiper, NO swiping!". If you say that fast, you can get her confusion.)

Overheard at our house

We are eating blueberry muffin's for breakfast, Michael's favorite. He always talks about how many muffins he's going to eat.

Michael: "Chelsea, how many muffins have you eaten?"
Chelsea: "This is my first."
Michael: "This is MY twoth!"
Chelsea: "Your tooth?!"
Michael: "Yeah! My Twoth!"

Overheard at our house

I was sitting down with Michael to do his reading.

"Okay, say these sounds slowly if you can"

He  turns his read real quick and says "What have you been eating?"

Me: "Nothing. Is my breath stinky?"

Michael "Yes! You smell like an ENCHILADA!"

I went and brushed, and rinsed, and brushed and rinsed....

overheard...in the car....

We were driving somewhere, and Brinly was acting silly with Michael.

Then Michael says: "Mom, Brinly would be much cuter as a puppy."

um, okay.

She would definitely be cute as a puppy too, but I'm not sure about the MUCH more. :)

Poor kid really wants a dog...

Overheard at our house...

Michael and I were reading from an Eyewitness book, called "The Natural World".

Me reading from book: "Some animals are unlikely to become prey. Michael, do you know what 'prey' means?"

Michael: "Yeeeeaaaahh..." (like that was the silliest question he'd ever heard....)

Me: "what?"

Michael: "When you talk to Heavenly Father!"

This morning Brinly was jabbering away...

Michael: "MOM! Brinly knows how to speak SPANISH!"

Me: "Oh? What did she say?"

Michael: (Laughing) "I don't know, Mom! I don't speak Spanish!"

Overheard at our house...

Setting: Michael brings me a chocolate "nummy", looking up at me with sweet, big, serious eyes, asks:

Michael: "Mom? Can I have this?"

Me: "How much do you love me?" ( I know, a horrible thing to say, but oh well.)

Michael: "Sixty?"

I hope "sixty" is a lot in his eyes. It was enough to grant permission to eat a chocolate nummy.

Overheard at our house...

Setting: Getting Brinly dressed for church, and like everything, she is trying to stuff her dress in her mouth

Mom: (In pobably and obnoxious yet playful baby voice...hey, we all do it, whether you want to admit it or not!) "Brinly...get that out of your mouth. That's gross. What are we going to do with you?"

Michael: "I think we should take her to Baby training school."

Hey! Now there's an idea... NOt that I would want to be the head master of such school...but to send my baby and have her trained? Sweet....

Overheard at our house...

I'm in the kitchen making sandwiches for lunch. Michael walks in...

Michael: "Mom, can I had a cookie?"
Mom: "No, not right now. I'm making lunch."
Michael: "But mom, them are helty for me."
Mom: "No they're not. They have lots of sugar in them."
Michael: "I'm sure there is mom, but I still like em!" (said with MUCH attitude)

Man, this kid can always make me laugh. Which is not always a good thing. And no, even though he was adorable, he still did not get his cookie. Tough Love.

Then just an hour later, he was looking at a human anatomy book my brother got us for Christmas one year. It has great illustrations (mainly digital images) of every part of the body. On the cover there is a skeleton, and then a series of pictures of different pictures on the side. The top two are just pictures of a skull.

Michael: "Mom, and what is this Man's name?"
Mom: "I have no idea Michael"
Michael: "I know mom. His name is Bad. Silly."

So knowledgeable, that boy.

overheard at hour house

Michael: (hiding behind a door) "I don't know where I am! Come find me!"

:) Sometimes I don't know where I am too!

Overheard in our church....

Setting: at church. Dan was sick, so I was alone with the two kids. Chelsea is an angel and his content to sit and draw. Michael...not so much.

Michael was getting restless and starting to eat his snack after the opening song. I told him he had to wait until after sacrament. As the meeting progressed, he got more wiggly, and eating more. I couldn't let him down his snack in the first 15 minutes when there was still at least another hour to go. This conversation repeated itself several times. I knew if I took the snack away, it would make the situation worse with a tantrum. So, finally, the sacrament began to be passed.

Again, he started eating.

Mom: Michael! Wait to eat your snack until the boys sit down!"
Michael: Kneels up in his chair and looks around at the Deacons "BBBOOOYYYYSS! Go sit DDOOOOWWWWNNN!!"

I guess that's one way to get a snack early. :)

Overheard at our house

Michael has been going through stages with his prayers.

Stage 1: We tell him what to say, and he would only pray if we helped him

Stage 2: He finally got to where he wanted to say them by himself and wouldn't allow any help. HOwever, his prayers always went like this.

Several deep breaths, in and out. "Heav'ly Father" (more deep breaths) "help our bodies be healthy, help our bodies be healthy, help our bodies healthy. Name of Jesus, Amen."

We've been working on trying to get him to think of other things to say, for several weeks now. Which brings us to:

Stage 3: He now blesses everything! :) Tonight the prayer went something like this:

same deep breaths in and out "Heav'ly Father, thank you for this day. keep our bodies healthy," eyes slightly open, peers around the room (yes, I peaked) "thank you for food. Thank you go on airplane ride last day. Thank you go to Nate Nate's house last day. Thank you could snow last day. Thank you go to park 'morrow. Name of Jesus, Amen."

Note: he asks all the time to go to the park, but weather hasn't allowed us to go. I guess we're going to the park tomorrow, rain, snow, wind, or (fingers crossed) shine!

Overheard and CAUGHT at our house

Chelsea got this camera for her birthday last year. It has been a favorite toy of hers and any child that comes over to play. It holds a little over 300 pictures, and post of the time, you can't tell what the picture is. She currently has about 100 pictures that are actually of something, the rest I help her delete. I was pretty disapointed with the quality of the pictures, but I guess I should have expected it from just a toddler camera.

Anyway, It's very interesting to see some of the angles of her pictures...from a child's point of view. Today, her photography skills came in very handy.

Setting: I was sitting on Chelsea's bed talking on the phone to my sister. All of the sudden, Chelsea comes running into the room with her camera.

Chelsea: "Mom! Michael is doing something really bad! look!"

she holds her camera up, and "reviews" her latest picture.

This is what she captured:

BUSTED! Michael has been told over and over, put into many time-outs, for getting into this pantry. This time, Chelsea caught him in action. I think I really like this camera after all.

Overheard at our house

Michael was cracking me up all day today. Oh how I love that boy! Some of the things he said I've already forgotten, but I wrote these down while I could still remember.

Preface: Dan has started reading the kids from an illustrated anatomy book we got from my Brother. It shows all the different "systems" and is very fascinating.
Setting: Cuddling in mom's bed after waking up in the morning. Michael has just ran and jumped right on my stomach.

Mom: "OH! Michael! you just squished my guts!" (Yes, that is how we talk here at the Perry's)
Michael: "Ater you eat dinner, you get lots uv guts mom."
Mom: laughs at the slightly random comment. "Where are your guts Michael?"
Michael: Points at stomach "there's your guts" moves up to middle of chest "There's your heart bone." and points about to the sternum area "and there's your squish bone!"

Later...at church, Michael kept pestering Dan for his snack, but we just got to church, and it's too early to be passing out the goods.

Dad: "No Michael! Not yet! Now sit down and be quiet."
Michael: quite upset by this answer, sulks and says: says "You NOT the MOM, Dad!"

Overheard at our house...

Setting: Eating dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Perry's house.

Michael: (babling about something random. I wish I can remember what he said, but I took too long to post this)

Mom: (starts to snicker at something he said)

Michael: (Turns to me with upset/hurt look on his face)
Mom! Why you laughing at your baby?!

Setting: Naptime.

Except, Michael's not napping.
He's been singing in his bed for 20 minutes, then emerges from his room.

Mom: Michael! What are you doing up? You haven't even slept yet!
Michael: I not tired, Mom! I awake! See, my eyes open!

Overheard at our house....

Setting: K, this will get complicated, but hopefully I can word it so you understand. Chelsea and Michael are sitting in little chairs, watching Super Why on PBS. If you're not familiar with the show, it's about a group of friends that find letters to make a word to solve a mystery. I am fixing Chelsea's hair. Also, important to note, we have been trying to potty train Michael for quite a while...

TV: "What? Did you find the rest of our mystery letters?"
Michael: "Q! T! L!" (Just random letters he is calling out)
Chelsea: "No Michael, It's U, P!"
Michael: Looks crossly at Chelsea "No, Me not Pee!"
Chelsea: starts to giggle..."No, Michael, U! P!"
Michael: geting very angry "No Sess! (His word for Chelse) I a big boy! I NOT PEE!"

chelsea: Is the sun super far away mom?
Mom: Yup, really far away.
Chelsea: Far, FAR away? Like in Idaho?

P.S. The next post will be from our house! WAHOO!

Overheard at our house...

My sister does this on her blog and I think it's awesome, so I'm just going to copy....

Setting: Making cookies at Grandma's house with Chelsea and Michael licking beaters.

Mom: Guess what guys? It's almost time to move to our new house!
Chelsea: Can I ride in the truck with daddy?
Mom: Probably.
Chelsea: We had so much fun!
Mom: Really? What did you do?
Chelsea: Ate lots of nummies...played with toys...well, I did. Not daddy. He had to drive. My favorite part was eating nummies.
Michael: Um...my favorite part...um....I pick my nose!
Mom: (Doubled over the sink, laughing.)

What a boy!:)
