Over the river and through the woods...

Remember how Chelsea and Michael's favorite thing to do was make fire pits with "stuff"?

Well, they now play a new game. Daily.

They call it "going to Grandma's house". They even get their friends to play it when they come over.

It consists of thoroughly packing all of their toys, clothes, shoes, and of course their blankets and pillows. They often will dump the toys out of one container to put it in another container. I must admit, that I am impressed with their packing skills.

Check it out...

P.S. WE finally updated Chelsea's blog. However, we're going to make hers private, so be sure to leave your address on her blog.

Skills you learn from Dental school...

Dan's office is having a pumpkin carving contest. Today they are all to bring in their "masterpieces" and the patients will judge them all week. Dan spent much time searching for the perfect pattern. What do you think?

Oh, can't tell what it is?

Here, let's turn off the lights.

Now, what do you think?

NO, not of the man himself, but of Dan's artwork, sillies!

I think it's pretty stinkin' awesome. Course, everything about Dan is pretty stinkin' awesome....

I think it's about time...

...to remove poor Melissa's picture from the first thing that you see when you come to my blog. :) Sorry it took so long, Melissa!

Look what Dan found on one of his night runs? Oh yeah, the biggest, slimiest frog/toad I have ever seen. I'm not up on my amphibians to know what it was. It had webbed feet, for what it's worth...

The kids thought it was awesome. I, on the other hand, was not as excited. I usually don't get squeamish about bugs, critters, or frogs, but this one creeped me out! Especially when I tried to take pictures of the event. I'd be focusing on getting a good picture and the thing would jump right out at me!

I, of course, scream.

I was bascially leaning over the kitchen counter, stretching out my arms as far as I could go (unfortunately, our zoom doesn't work on the camera) to try to snap pictures. Here's what I have to represent my efforts. And a taste of a typical photo shoot at our house.

"Michael! Look at mom and smile so I can take a picture of you and the frog!"

"oKay, maybe not that much. Let's try it again"..I say, still reaching and trying to regain my composure after the thing jumped out at me...again, for like the 5th time.

"well, a little more would be nice. Let's try Chelsea."

"Perrrfect! Great job Chels! Wish the camera didn't take such blury pictures, but great pose! AAAAAAHHHHHH!" Oh yes, that would make jump number twelve.

"Okay Michael, let's try you again."

sigh... "oh well. Let's just get a picture of the frog."

"great job, Frog. Michael? Let's try one more time. Now, just smile a little bit for mommy, okay?"

"SIGH. I give up."
oh well. He's still cute, although such a pain to try to get good pictures of.

P.S. After our photo shoot, and waking up the neighbor's with my screaming, we all hopped in the van to take the little (HUMONGOUS) frog to the stream that runs by our neighborhood. Good bye frog. Please don't return.

BOY?! WHAT DID YOU DO?

...is a common phrase uttered at the Perry household.

This is how I found Michael after trying to give Chelsea a piano lesson.

(sigh) what do I do with this kid?

While we're talking about Michael....

we've been telling him that his birthday isn't until after Dan's birthday, so the morning of Dan's birthday, the first thing Michael says to his dad is

"Dad! Ater your bertday, MY bertday!"

The next day, Michael was upset that I wasn't making his birthday cake yet. he says "mom?! You say after daddy birthday, My birthday!!"

He's already asking us to sing to him "Happy Birthday", and has his birthday wish list down. He wants a lawn mower and to ride in an airplane, boat, hot air balloon, hippo, etc.
(Explanation)
We have a family reunion in Texas for Thanksgiving, so we've been telling him he gets to ride on an airplane for his birthday. Now he thinks he can ride on anything for the birthday. Anything he sees, A backhoe, boat, etc., he'll say "Mom? I ride on that for my bertday!?"

Sigh...it's going to be a long 39 more days!

when Chelsea turned three, she was still pretty clueless about birthdays. What's up with this kid?!

Guess who is OLD?

Dan turned 30 yesterday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANDSOME!

The
kids really wanted to "surprise" Daddy, so we decided to bring him
lunch at work. I even sent him off to work with leftovers, so he
wouldn't suspect anything.

We ordered a pizza and had them write "30" on it, then picked up some helium balloons to hopefully embarrass him a little by causing some looks. He was surprised to see us, and the kids thought it was awesome.

We also made some cookies for his staff, but as you can see, Michael wasn't about to leave without getting his fare share.

That night we had some friends over to share cake and ice-cream with us. I love how the Cake is almost consumed with fire!

Again, Michael is very interested in this sugary goodness.

I'm so lucky to be married to this awesome
guy. And although this is not an anniversary post, it might seem like
it, as I will name a FEW of the reasons why I love this man. I tried to edit the pictures, but my computer wasn't handling it. Sorry they're so dark! (Sorry if
it embarrasses you, Dan!) A top 10, if you will...

10) He's always willing to try new food, especially when I'm cooking it! :)

9) He Loves Dogs!

8) He's an awesome handyman.

7) He's got a "Rock"-in body! (I know I'm gonna hear about this picture later)

6) He can always make me laugh...even if I really don't want too.

5) He is one great Dad!

(This is when he filled up their pool with hot water, using buckets and the kitchen sink, so they could play in their pool. Portland just never got warm enough to heat up the water naturally)

4) He always makes a great date!

3) He knows how to dress...or not...but he'll usually ask my advice on his outfits.

2) He's my best friend!

1) He married me!

Happy Birthday, Dan! I love you!

Overheard at our house...

Setting: Eating dinner at Grandma and Grandpa Perry's house.

Michael: (babling about something random. I wish I can remember what he said, but I took too long to post this)

Mom: (starts to snicker at something he said)

Michael: (Turns to me with upset/hurt look on his face)
Mom! Why you laughing at your baby?!

A new hobby

Dan was about to go crazy durring his "time off" of work, so he went out in search of a new hobby.

and the winner is...fishing!

He checked out many videos from the library about fishing, got a pole, and off we went to the family fishing pond. We still have a lot to learn...as we still have yet to catch anything. I haven't been fishing since the last time I went with my Grandpa Spong, oh...at least 20 years ago! After I got the line tangled too many times, we decided to call it a night. the kids had fun reeling in the line, so this will probably become a new family hobby.
