What's new?

What's new with the Perry's?

Well, Michael got Brinly to laugh. Her first laugh!
After she giggled for him a few times, I got her to giggle for me a few times. She hasn't since that day... (sigh) It's the most beautiful sound and I can't wait to hear it again! She's getting less stingy with her smiles, so hopefully her laughs aren't too far behind.

Michael got a "big-boy" bike and LOVES it. Sometimes, he rides it to drop Chelsea off at the bus stop, and to pick her up again. He loves to go zooming fast!

Check out the concentration on his face as he works so hard on the "hill".

We have been working hard in our yard to get grass in before winter. You might notice the yard in one of the bicycle pictures. We pretty much dug up the entire yard by hand, in search of bermuda grass roots. Then we leveled it off with rakes and sweat. :)

Finally, it was time to hydro-seed. This is where they come and spray the ground with a mixture of water, glue, fertilizer, and grass seed.
Now, all we have to do, is make sure the ground stays wet so the seeds can germinate and make us a beautiful, lush, green lawn.

However, nature seems to have something against us. Here's the pathetic story:

Our neighborhood is still being developed. There are several lots that have not been built on that have weeds taller than we are. The HOA hires landscaping crews to come out and level out the weeds, once in a while. The day Dan and Chelsea were to fly out to Texas to join me and Michael (upcoming post) the landscapers were doing just this. The worker somehow busted a main water line for the irrigation water, so the city had to shut it off until they could repair it. Dan tried to soak the lawn before he left for the airport the best he could. The water was turned off for about 2 full days, both with temperatures in the upper 90's. UGh!!!! We're hoping the seeds somehow survived and germinated, but so far, it's not looking good. To make things worse, the temperature this week is to be in the LOW 60's! Looks like we'll be seeding again in the spring. We'll keep you updated.

We do have good news, though! Our blinds finally arrived! We have privacy again!!!!

WAY cool bike michael! And the blinds look BEAUTIFUL! I love it (although the neighbors might be a little sad to miss out on the nightly peep show into what the perry's are eating for dinner . . .

I hear you on the lawn dilemmas. We haven't started from scratch, but sometimes I think that might be better. Then again, maybe not. Good luck

The laugh of a child...nothing can compare! I'm getting a huge kick these days from Linc's sleepy smiles. Love them!:)

Bummer about the grass. Darn, having a lawn can be wonderful, but tricky. The blinds look great though. I remember the day we finally received our blinds in the mail-- oh day of rejoicing! Yay for privacy.:)
